हेनरी मिलर (Henry Miller)
Shri Vishveshvaraiya, the world-famous engineer
of India went to America in 1919. In those days, the
renowned Americanauthor Henry Miller was just a
budding writer in the literary world. Vishveshvaraiya
asked Miller to write an article for his journal for which
he would pay him ten dollars. When Miller submitted
the article, Vishveshvaraiya was deeply impressed by
the standard of his work. Vishveshvaraiya offered Miller
two extra dollars on top of his fees to reward him for his
meticulous work. Vishveshvaraiya felt that the work really
exceeded his expectations and therefore, Miller deserved
extra remuneration. However, Miller refused to accept the
extra remuneration and said, “Sir, the fees I had set was for
writing the best possible article. I feel it is morally wrong to
accept more money than the worth of my efforts.
